WHY IT MATTERS TO WORK IT!

Why does fashion matter to me? I see fashion as a metaphor for life. It changes in time, it has ups and it has downs, and it is diverse, with each distinct style representing a distinct personality. Sometimes, fashion can help you recognize something about yourself that you didn’t already know. In fact, I didn’t even realize how much I loved flowers until I took a closer look at my wardrobe. When I feel sad, I find myself wearing darker, gloomier colors, and when I feel happy the clothes that I wear appear to be brighter. All in all, my moods change, as do the colors that I put on, but my style remains the same; Loose and flowy with many earthy tones and flowers, bell bottom pants and skinny jeans, shirts that hang off one shoulder and shirts that are sheer or lace or have cool, interesting designs.. oh, and pretty much anything with a peace sign. When it comes to accessorizing, one might say I can be a bit over the top, but hey, maybe “a bit over the top” is exactly what I am. I like to wear accessories in bulk and I love jewelry and shoes that are “chunky.” Of course, I just can’t resist a peace sign necklace, most likely accompanying one or two other necklaces of shorter or longer length, and I typically have bracelets stacked up my arm with a nice ring to top it all off. I am intrigued by old fashion looks that have once again become current and I am open to looks that are different but not too different that they become silly or ridiculous. Some might say I’m your modern day hippie with a bit of flare, but that’s just me. There are so many different looks and styles that are used to express one’s self. Fashion trends often change with each generation as do trends of life. All people bring different looks to the floor, and while some may be less tasteful than others, it is important to focus mainly on your own individual look, and work it as you advance down the runway of life. Who knows what the next generation will bring to the fashion world. Whatever it may be, I can only hope that it’ll be new and it’ll be different, but great, and totally fabulous!
